Mid Hudson Theater Review: Fiddler on the Roof

Last night I ushered at The Center for Performing Arts at Rhinebeck. The Show was Up in One Productions Fiddler on the Roof. Overall, the show was very good. The leading actors were fantastic, they really made the story feel real. The Set and Lighting was excellent, the band very good as well. Most of the costumes were perfect, however some of the costume choices surprised me. Some of the show felt a little rough, I'm not sure if it was an off night or what. I was a little surprised, as it's the third week of the run. The performance was dedicated to the memory of Charlann Molloy, about whom I wrote in January.

There were a lot of Familiar Faces in the Cast. Tevya was played by David Foster, who recently was in Into the Woods [previous post], Oklahoma and The Complete Works of Wiliam Shakespeare (abridged), He was, as usual, excellent. Lisa Lynds was Golde with whom I did Kiss me Kate. She was recently in Into the Woods, Oklahoma, and Nude with a Violin among others. Tzeitel was played by Cate Olson, another actress I've had the pleasure to work with several times. She did an awesome job. Motel, the Taylor, was played by Phillip Corso, with whom I went to Highschool. He played the role with passion and excellence.

Also of note, the funny and talented Adolph Allers plays the Rabbi, the charming Joe Felece is Avram, the lovely Layla Stover is Bielke, and the Debonair and Charming Jonah Triebwasswer plays Mordcha.

Previously, I've written about this production: Here's the previous post about the review from the poughkeepsie journal, Fiddler Auditions, and the result of those auditions

Just one more weekend to see this show. Definitely worth seeing, and don't be surprised if the show sells out it's last weekend!
