Vegas Broadway Adaptations

Looks like Big Apple transplants are not doing well in Sin City. Recently announced is the closing of Hairspray - very short of it's intended run. Link These darlings of Broadway, why are they failing in Vegas? Could it be the shorter versions (most of the shows have been shortened down to 45 minutes) lose some of the punch of the original? I can't imagine not losing something by cutting the shows down.

The track record for transplants isn't good - Although Mama Mia! is going strong after three years. If you want to see a breakdown of the successes and failures here is a great post.
