June 14, 2006 -- IN a roomy house in Water Mill, L.I., the Mel Brooks comic
factory has reopened for business. For the next month, Brooks and the two men
who helped him put together "The Producers" - co-writer Tom Meehan and musical
arranger Glen Kelly - will be hard at work on his next show: a stage adaptation
of his 1974 movie classic, "Young Frankenstein."
I love Mel Brooks, his zany humor, and the situational comedy. I'm so excited that he's doing something new. I saw The Producers on Broadway last year, and found it so much more developed then the movie.
