Vassar College has a new producing director of their Powerhouse Summer Theater Program, Edward Cheetham, who balances the roles of go-between, event planner, ambassador and director.
A local graduate, Cheetham, who graduated from Roy C. Ketcham High School in Wappingers Falls, is responsible for overseeing the Powerhouse season. This summer's highlights include a new rock opera by Pete Townshend, a new drama by Emmy-nominated writer Stephen Belber that features Logan Marshall-Green of "The O.C." and a new musical by John Patrick Shanley, the creator of the Pulitzer Prize-winning "Doubt." Shanley's Powerhouse production of "Romantic Poetry," which features music by "Dreamgirls" composer Henry Krieger, will star Mark Linn-Baker, one of the producing directors of New York Stage and Film.
Powerhouse is the result of a 22-year partnership between New York Stage and Film and Vassar College. It includes an eight-week residency at Vassar during which more than 200 professional theater artists and apprentices live and work together to create new theater works. (more)
