Poughkeepsie Journal has a bit about Barnum (4th Wall productions at Cunnen-Hacket Center)

Also at SUNY New Paltz opening tonight and running through May 7th Brech's 'The Caucasian Chalk Circle'

"For some playwrights, theater is an elaborate form of social storytelling. From the first act to the last word, the audience is aware that the stage is only a stage, and that the players are only players.

German writer Bertolt Brech was such a dramatist.
In his epic drama "The Caucasian Chalk Circle," Brecht reminds the audience the story is not real by putting his play within a play. He also utilizes a narrator, so audience members do not lose themselves in the characters' plight."
